Takakkaw Falls and East Yoho
Canada | Banff | Banff Rock
TRADITIONAL
Takakkaw Falls is one of the most impressive waterfalls in the Canadian Rockies with an overall height of 380 m. There are a number of interesting climbs on the large wall left of the falls including the unique and well-situated Takakkaw Falls Route. The climb parallels the waterfall for much of the way and features a 75 m long cave passage near the top.

The area is located in Yoho Park, immediately west of the Banff Park boundary, and is included here because of its proximity to Lake Louise. Also included are the Ross Lake Headwall, situated a short distance over the Alberta/British Columbia border, and Railway Avenue, a small sport climbing crag near the town of Field. All areas are reached in a short drive from Lake Louise and are indicated on the map below.
