Death Valley
United States | Tunnel Five | Rock Climbing Clear Creek
SPORT MIXED PRO
This section of rock became more popular due to the ease of access from the new Peaks to Plains Trail. There is a plethora of rock around this area, and The Graveyard lies about 100 yards to the north on the same stretch of rock. It is important to remember while climbing at these areas above the trail to be very careful not to dislodge any rocks on the trail below. There is a combination of sport and trad routes here, which is nice because there aren’t a lot of fun options for trad climbers in the canyon. The two best routes at the wall are the two trad routes Devil’s Molar and Devil’s Buttcrack. The sport routes are worth trying, but if you come here, bring a trad rack! This wall gets sun most of the day and is a great winter spot.
Approach: To get here, park as for Catslab on the west side of tunnel 5, preferably in the parking lot so you can easily access the trail. Take the Peaks to Plains Trail east/downstream for about a 1/3 of a mile or so until reaching this wall on the right side of the trail. There is a faint trail down and right of the main wall. 15 min
