This cliff rewards you for the long approach with some beautiful scenic views and often times nice seclusion from the large crowds in the popular parts of the canyon. While the approach is from Windy Saddle, nestled between Mt. Zion and Lookout Mountain in Golden, this little crag is still technically in Clear Creek Canyon. It hosts a number of fun slab moderates and at least one or two routes that will give you a bit of a harder challenge. The wall faces north to northeast and receives an abundance of shade with the tree cover. Approach: From its intersection with US-6, drive 3.4 miles up Lookout Mountain Road (going past the pullout for Lookout Mountain Crag (p15)) and park on the west side of the road in an established parking area at a spot called The Windy Saddle. From the parking lot, take the Lookout Mountain Trail west for 0.2 miles to get to the Beaver Brook Trail. Hike an additional 1.6 miles west on the trail (just past a 1.5 mile marker sign), to find yourself at the top of the cliff to the right/north side of the trail. Scramble down the west side of the crag and around to the east side to find the slab with the bolted sport routes.
