Rapids Rock
United States | Tunnel Two East | Rock Climbing Clear Creek
SPORT MIXED PRO
This wall offers a fun little adventure by the creek if you’re looking for something new. On the left side of the wall, there’s a 5.9 that is pretty fun for someone looking for a moderate. The two routes to the right offer plenty of challenge with not only the climbing itself, but also rope maintenance and accessibility.
Approach: Drive 6.0 miles up the canyon and park on the north (right) side of the road. The first wall on the north side of the creek you will see is New River Wall (next page). The next wall west is Merlin Area (previous page) and then you will see Rapids Rock. After parking, walk towards the tunnel; the approach trail will be on the north side of the road. Take the trail east/downstream past Twitch Rock (p90) and you will find anchor bolts on the top of a creek side cliff. It is best to rappel or lower to The Eddy. For the other two routes, hike around the east side of the cliff to access the fixed line.
