The Lost World is a group of domes and buttresses on the mountainside north of The Pool. The Orange Arête, a spectacular out-leaning prow, is the highest feature of the group. At its left is The Colossus, a dome with its east side sheared away. A steep, narrow chute descends from the base of the Orange Arête and opens into a talus gully that separates two lower domes: Moot Point Apron is to the left, and Gnome Dome is on the right. Approach: To reach The Lost World, hike the Fern Lake Trail 1.7 miles to The Pool (going past Arch Rocks and Rock of Ages). Turn north and scramble up steep talus through a narrow gap in a cliff band, then hike north to the west end of a marsh. From the northwest side of the marsh, scramble up a talus gully that leads between Moot Point Apron and Gnome Dome.
