World Cup Wall

Rocky Mountain National Park

ICE/MIXED

The upper east face of the West Glacier Knob pesents a wall, roughly 500 feet long and 100 feet high. The wall is partially visible from the open meadow on the Loch Vale Winter Approach, and from the rock terrace about halfway up The Shortcut (Fire Trail). It is readily viewed from the summit of the East Glacier Knob, but then, why would you be up there? Approach: Begin from the Glacier Gorge Trailhead and follow the Winter Approach to Loch Vale Junction. Take the Lake Haiyaha Trail for maybe 100 feet, then make a hard left into the trees. Go up steep snow ramps and a gully, then up around the left side of a tiered wall.
