Mount Ngungun

Australia | SE Queensland | South East Queensland Climbing

SPORT
TRADITIONAL

Mount Ngungun is one of the smaller peaks in the Glass House Mountains group however its conservative profile hides a wealth of popular climbing. The rock is juggy and for the most part slightly less than vertical, the result of which is some of the best and most varied easy climbs in Queensland. More experienced climbers will also enjoy Ngungun’s short bolted face routes and unique columnar trad cracks.
While still volcanic trachyte, Mount Ngungun’s rock is quite soft. If you’re climbing trad, be careful with your placements. Large passive protection works well. Entering the Glass House Mountains township, turn left at the first intersection, drive over the railway line and turn left into Coonowrin Road at the T-junction. Drive along this for 1 km, past the school, where you veer right onto Fullertons Road. A further 1.3 km will see you at the signposted car park (marked P1 on the map).
